The Sino-German Academic Exchange Program for Graduate Students Summer School, organized and hosted by Sun Yat-sen University in China, is an enriching opportunity designed to foster academic collaboration and cultural exchange between graduate students from China and Germany. This program aims to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the research landscape in both countries, promoting mutual learning and cooperation. The summer school will be held at the Shenzhen Campus of Sun Yat-sen University and will last for 6 days and 5 nights. (02.09.2024-07.09.2024)

 

Program Highlights:

1.Research Collaboration: Participants will engage in academic exchanges through joint research projects and scholarly presentations. These interactions will allow them to collaborate with peers and faculty from leading universities in China and Germany. This approach will enhance their research skills, broaden their academic perspectives, and explore further possibilities for collaboration.

2.Talks and Workshops: The summer school will feature a series of talks and workshops led by distinguished professors and researchers. These sessions will cover a wide range of topics, including the latest advancements in various fields of study such as pharmacy, biology, chemistry, medicine, and computer science. The interdisciplinary nature of these sessions aims to demonstrate the application of these fields in the biomedicine domain, research methodologies, and innovative technologies.  

3.Cultural Exchange: Beyond academic activities, the program will include cultural exchange events where German participants can experience the rich heritage and traditions of China. This will foster greater cultural understanding and build lasting friendships among students.

4.Laboratory Visits and Industry Tours: Participants will have the opportunity to visit state-of-the-art laboratories and leading industries in China. These visits will provide insights into practical applications of research and innovation in real-world settings.

5.Networking Opportunities: The summer school will offer numerous networking opportunities, enabling participants to connect with fellow students, researchers, and industry professionals. These connections will be valuable for future academic collaborations and career development.

The program encompasses research content discussions and cultural exchange activities, featuring expert lectures in relevant fields, presentations on Sino-German graduate programs, visits to Guangdong Stem Cell Innovative Drug Engineering Technology Center and Shenzhen Key Laboratory, as well as an exploration of traditional Chinese culture.

7th September

The concluding briefing and commencement ceremony.

 

Program Duration:

The summer school will take place over 6 days and 5 nights (02.09.2024-07.09.2024) at the Shenzhen Campus of Sun Yat-sen University. Specific dates and details will be provided upon acceptance into the program.

 

Travel Expenses:

The organizers will provide full coverage for the round-trip travel expenses and accommodation of all participants.

 

Application of summer students and related arrangements

1. Target students

For the national enrollment, the selection project funds 20 participants (including accommodation and transportation costs) , the basic conditions are as follows:

- postdoctoral, doctoral, outstanding Master's and undergraduate students.

- basic theory and knowledge of the relevant disciplines;

- have the potential to engage in scientific research and the potential to develop;

- good command of English as the language of academic communication;

2. Entry requirements

- postdoctoral fellows aged no more than 35(born after 1-1,1989) ;

- current doctoral students, Outstanding Master's students and undergraduate students (published or soon-to-be-published papers can be used for communication between the two sides) ;

- participants' research interests (or forthcoming research papers) are relevant to the content of the workshop;

3. Enrolment method

Please submit the following materials to Professor Wuwuyihang@mail.sysu.edu.cn before the deadline of 8.28

1) resume, with a brief introduction of personal research direction (less than 500 words) ;

2) brief introduction of the research projects or internship experience (less than 500 words) ;

3) the scanned copy of the highest degree certificate (or the proof of reading) ;

4) a paper manuscript (published or will be published);

5) a scanned letter of recommendation from an expert with senior professional title or above in the relevant research field; (Chinese students may submit it in Chinese)
